Anutin Brushes Off Democrat Suit Threat, Confirms Flood Compensation Progress
Deputy PM Anutin dismissed the Democrat Party's lawsuit threat over Bangkok floods and confirmed the 200 million baht compensation plan is nearly finalized for all eligible victims nationwide.
At 11:10 a.m. on October 26, 2026, at the Ministry of Interior, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the Democrat Party's plan to file an administrative lawsuit against state agencies — Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation — for alleged failure in managing Bangkok's floods, responding with a casual "up to them." Asked about discussions with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt regarding the 200 million baht flood compensation, Anutin said the matter is nearly settled. Pressed on whether the DDPM and Bangkok must coordinate on the funding, he stated that everyone who falls within the eligibility criteria will receive assistance, whether they reside in Bangkok or anywhere else in Thailand, with no exceptions. On budget allocation details, he said it is an internal administrative matter that will not affect the public.
