The owner of Prakai Bang Yai restaurant in Nonthaburi has filed a police report, with police uncovering that the influencer behind a popular page has an outstanding arrest warrant. The case involves an influencer with over 300,000 followers who approached a Nonthaburi cafe requesting a food review in exchange for free dining. When the restaurant politely declined, the influencer threatened to give a one-star review unless paid 25,000 baht, warning the business would suffer.
At 10:00 AM on October 26, 2026, Ms. Soracha, 33, owner of Prakai Bang Yai in Nong Phrao Ngai, Sai Noi, Nonthaburi, went to Sai Noi Police Station to file charges against an individual named "Sophia" (alias), an influencer who used a page to pose as a reviewer and extort money. Ms. Soracha said she initially recorded the incident in the daily log on October 25 after the Sai Noi police chief advised the case was actionable. She had hesitated due to time constraints but proceeded after discovering the influencer had targeted other businesses. She believes the suspect is a professional scammer.
Ms. Soracha decided to pursue legal action after her social media post about the incident drew backlash, feeling the law must take its course. She suspects the scammer has victimized other business owners. Initially she did not press charges because she had not suffered financial loss or transferred money, but learning of other victims changed her mind. Other affected parties can also file reports.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Natthadecha Thanisaphattharaphong, Sai Noi Police Chief, confirmed the victim filed a formal report. The suspect is accused of impersonation, extortion, and dining without payment, causing distress to business owners. Police are preparing charges of attempted extortion and other offenses related to harassment, with final charges dependent on evidence.
Background checks reveal the suspect has an arrest warrant from Bang Bua Thong Police Station for public fraud and involvement with illegal betting accounts, plus a history of drug offenses. The suspect is currently fleeing, and police are urgently investigating to apprehend and prosecute.
