Anutin Dodges NACC Queries, Breaks Into Song
Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul sidestepped questions about the National Anti‑Corruption Commission’s report of irregularities in the asset declaration of Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Sang Thanthap, responding instead by singing a lyric about living with what one has. He also said he had no knowledge of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s amnesty request under the Social Harmony Promotion Act. The exchange took place at Government House as background music for an upcoming IMF‑World Bank event played in the room.
At 12:40 p.m. on October 13, 2026, at Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul was interviewed about former premier Thaksin Shinawatra assigning a lawyer to petition the Social Harmony Promotion Committee for amnesty and to clear charges with political motivations, under the Social Harmony Promotion Act of 2025. He said he had not heard of the request. When asked whether anyone could submit such a petition, he nodded without answering. When questioned about the NACC’s finding of abnormal asset and debt filings by MP Suchada Sang Thanthap of the Bhumjaithai Party, he said he still did not know. Asked whether, as a party member, he had inquired with her about the matter, he gave no reply. At that moment, the trial run of the sound system for an upcoming IMF‑World Bank meeting played the song "Live and Learn" from the Santi Maitri building. Anutin remarked that music was playing and sang along: "Live with what you have, not what you dream." When pressed on whether this was his personal responsibility, he continued singing: "And do that to the best of your ability," without answering the question.
