Thai Para-Cycling Team Targets Gold at 2026 Asian Para Games
Thai officials visited the national para-cycling team in Japan to boost morale ahead of the 2026 Asian Para Games in Nagoya. The team, training in Izu, reports no issues and aims to win at least one gold, led by cyclist Jaturoong Niwanti. Competition in track and road events will run from October 19 to 23.
The delegation, headed by Mitri Khongrueang, Lieutenant General Osot Phawiwi, Dr. Kittipong Phomhu, and advisor Wisut Lai-chaphit, traveled to Izu to meet the Thai para-cycling squad after their pre‑camp preparations. Team manager Ann Mahakit reported that the seven athletes—four men and three women—are adjusting to the local weather and track without problems and are physically ready beyond 100 percent. The squad, under Swiss coach Christian Stuffer and assistants Siraphong Phromma, Panya Makumchai, and Bin Zainul Zaman Muhamad Najib, will compete in both track and road events from October 19‑23 at the Izu Velodrome and Cycle Sports Center. Thailand’s goal is to secure at least one gold medal, with Jaturoong Niwanti highlighted as a top contender after his 2025 ASEAN Para Games victory in the men’s 1,000‑meter track.
