The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an urgent alert after a Korean dietary supplement caused widespread illness among village health volunteers in Na Noi district, Nan province. Initial reports showed that of 163 trainees, 129 took the supplement and 104 experienced abnormal symptoms. The FDA’s Chiang Mai office later identified the problematic batch as Lot No. 18015, manufactured on 20 March 2026 and expiring on 19 March 2028, and noted that its advertising contained false and exaggerated claims such as detoxifying red blood cells, boosting oxygen, strengthening immunity, and improving reproductive health. Symptoms reported included trembling hands, palpitations, high blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, chest tightness, red swollen rashes, nausea, vomiting, numbness of the tongue or mouth, body numbness, chills, and general aches, with varying severity. A total of 119 people showed symptoms, 21 were treated in the emergency room of Na Noi Hospital, and seven were admitted; all have since been discharged. The FDA is investigating the importer, has detained the product for analysis, and advises the public not to use the supplement until further notice.
