On September 30, 2069, Phanarat Phan Na, director of the Lam Phra Phloeng Irrigation Project, said a strong low‑pressure trough off central Vietnam had moved over the lower Northeast, causing continuous heavy rain in 32 districts of Nakhon Ratchasima. The Lam Phra Phloeng dam received over 70 million cubic metres of inflow from upstream forests, raising the stored volume to 120.85 million cubic metres – 81.3% of its 155 million cubic metre capacity – and levels continue to rise. To manage the situation, the project has coordinated with related agencies to: divert 1.3 million cubic metres per day to the Lam Sam Sai reservoir, release water through the left‑hand main irrigation canal at 20 cubic metres per second, and discharge via the natural Lam Phra Phloeng canal at 30 cubic metres per second.
