Defense Agency Deploys Drones to Aid Flood-Hit Prachinburi Villagers
Defense scientists deployed two drones to help flood victims in Prachinburi Province, delivering food, water and essential supplies while surveying affected areas. One drone carried relief packages to isolated communities, the other provided aerial surveillance and public announcements. The mission shows how dual-use military technology can be adapted for rapid disaster response.
The Defense Science and Technology Agency integrated dual-use technology from military research for civilian disaster relief, deploying two unmanned aerial vehicles in Prachinburi Province. One UAV functions as a cargo drone, carrying food, drinking water, and essential goods to flood-affected residents, especially in areas inaccessible by ground. The second UAV is a surveillance drone equipped with a public-address system, used to assess conditions and relay important information to the public. Operations took place in Pakphli Subdistrict, Pakphli District, Prachinburi Province, focusing on the community around Wat Nong Bua Khon. By swiftly delivering relief packages and gathering situational data, the mission demonstrated how defense innovations can improve the speed and reach of flood response efforts.
