Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas has appointed three expert board members to the Bank of Thailand's committee, effective today, May 20, 2025. The appointees are Disthaat Hotrakit, Nophadol Phreereuykrit, and On-fa Wetchacheeya. The Bank of Thailand's board committee is responsible for overseeing the bank's general operations and management under the Bank of Thailand Act of 2485 (1942), as amended by the Bank of Thailand Act (No. 4) of 2551 (2008). Disthaat previously served as Secretary to the Prime Minister from 2562-2565 (2019-2022) and as Prime Minister's Advisor from 2565-2566 (2022-2023). Nophadol currently holds the position of Secretary to the Legislative Drafting Committee. On-fa currently serves as Secretary of the Civil Service Commission.

The Ministry of Commerce is upgrading Thai agricultural products by enlisting MasterChef Thailand competitors to develop special menus for three major airlines. Withaya Manirat, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, revealed that the project implements Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Supachai Suthathamphand's policy to help farmers secure better markets and elevate the value and image of Thai agricultural goods. The department has selected quality raw materials from various regions and handed them to MasterChef Thailand contestants to create special menus under the concept of "Local Ingredients World Class Experiences," with results to be featured on partner airlines that reach both Thai consumers and international tourists directly.

"The heart of this project is to help absorb agricultural production from farmers and increase its value through the creativity of new-generation chefs before delivering it to passengers on all three partner airlines, which represents a promising market that creates a new image for Thai agricultural products," Withaya said.

Kitikorn Penrojanwong, Chief Executive Officer of Heliconiae H Group, stated that Heliconiae is ready to use the power of MasterChef Thailand and its food-related content to promote Thai ingredients to consumers both domestically and internationally, with chefs from MasterChef Thailand Season 7 collaborating with airline chefs to create special menus.

For this collaboration, four contestants from MasterChef Thailand Season 7—selected from the final eight competitors—will develop menus using Thai agricultural raw materials for special offerings on partner airlines, both on flights and in passenger lounges. This brings Thai ingredients to the traveler market, a consumer group with significant purchasing power and potential to expand into international markets.

Orranong Methapipat, Director of Onboard Goods and Services at Thai AirAsia, stated that Thai AirAsia is ready to expand its cooperation with the Department of Internal Trade, building on its previous work in developing Thai fruit menus for flights. In 2025, Thai AirAsia will collaborate with DIT and MasterChef to develop new menus from quality Thai ingredients, launching them from July onwards to create new experiences for passengers and expand marketing channels for Thai agricultural products.

Warangkhana Lorojanvong, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, said Thai Airways will feature menus from this project in its "Chef of the Month" activity in First Class and Business Class lounges from July through October 2025, with MasterChef chefs collaborating with Thai Airways' kitchen team to develop menus reflecting the elegance, creativity, and quality of Thai raw materials, delivering a special experience to passengers.

Julin Kochareun, Senior Deputy Managing Director of Flight Network Management and Product Development at Bangkok Airways, stated that Bangkok Airways is ready to develop special food and beverage menus using Thai agricultural ingredients for both passenger lounges and onboard service, sharing the flavors and stories of Thai products with both Thai and foreign passengers while supporting farmers and the grassroots economy.

Withaya noted that the agricultural products used in the project are diverse, including fish, livestock, and agricultural crops such as three-water catfish from Songkhla Province and Phulae pineapples from Chiang Rai Province.

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) led 25 carefully selected Thai brands to participate in the Slow Hand Design 2026 exhibition at Superstudio Events in Milan during April, one of the world's largest design festivals. Presented under the concept 'Heritage Reimagined: The Futuristic Thai Crafts Evolution,' the core purpose of this exhibition was to demonstrate that innovative materials rooted in local heritage can successfully meet international design standards. Each participating brand presented materials developed from agricultural and industrial waste, including mycelium tiles, tiles made from rice husks and coffee grounds, and materials cultivated from acid sulfate soil—reflecting the global design community's shift toward valuing sustainable materials with compelling stories.

The work 'SEA of Love' by AVALON ARTISAN GALLERY was among the 25 Thai brands participating, showcasing biomaterial innovation through wall sculptures made from MyraShell, a material developed from oyster shells discarded by Thailand's seafood industry. Developed in collaboration with the National Innovation Agency (NIA), Kasetsart University, and the Faculty of Fisheries at Kasetsart University, the material features distinctive properties at the materials science level, with a microporous structure that allows it to function as a scent diffuser.

This participation reflected the tangible potential of Thai materials and people in reaching the global design stage, while opening new perspectives for the international design community. The event brought together international designers, entrepreneurs, and visitors interested in viewing each brand's work, which impressively conveyed the charm of Thai craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, as Bhumjaithai Party leader, submitted a constitutional amendment draft under Article 256 to the Parliamentary Speaker alongside party MPs. The party chief stated this aligns with the party's commitment to hearing public voices and concerns about constitution reform. Following the referendum results showing public desire for amendments, Bhumjaithai responded by becoming the first party to submit a constitutional amendment draft. Anutin confirmed the party has clearly demonstrated its sincere commitment to constitutional reform, contradicting claims of insincerity. The Bhumjaithai draft proposes a 100-member Constitutional Drafting Assembly comprising 23 experts selected through nationwide recruitment and 77 other members, with 300 reserves. For third-reading approval, it suggests lowering the Senate threshold from one-third to one-quarter to enable compromise, while maintaining Chapters 1 and 2 unchanged regarding the form of government and monarchy. Opposition bloc leaders confirmed they will submit a competing draft within a week, emphasizing three principles: maximum public participation, preventing monopolization of the constitution-making process, and refusing special privileges or enhanced Senate powers over approval. This reform effort starts fresh following the previous parliamentary process, which passed first reading but faced committee-level complications when the majority sought to remove the one-third Senate approval requirement, replacing it with simple majority vote from both chambers—a change that angered the Senate and ultimately led to the dissolution and new elections. The success of the new constitution hinges significantly on Senate approval votes, especially given the widely-known favorable relationship between Bhumjaithai, government leadership, and the Senate majority. Therefore, Anutin's decision to have Bhumjaithai submit the draft first is hoped to demonstrate genuine and serious commitment to completing the new constitutional process.
