Bangkok Deploys Water Pumps to Ladkrabang Rom Klao Amid Flooding
Bangkok authorities are moving water pumps to Ladkrabang and Rom Klao to alleviate persistent flooding while preparing for additional rain expected on October 4–5. Officials report improved drainage in the Saen Saep Canal but note slow declines in the Praves Si Muang Canal. Efforts include strengthening sandbag barriers, assessing pump placements, and draining retention areas to boost capacity.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is moving water pumps to Ladkrabang and Rom Klao as water levels remain high, while speeding up drainage in retention areas and monkey cheeks to prepare for new rain expected on October 4–5. Deputy Governor Wisanut Sapphonsphon said Bangkok continues to pump water steadily, with the Saen Saep Canal discharging more water, while the Praves Si Muang Canal, especially the Ladkrabang section, still shows high levels but slowly declining. Today’s priority is to pump water out of flooded villages and communities such as the Athletes’ Village, Kasethani and Nawathani, and to assess pump placements and drainage routes for better efficiency. For the Ladkrabang Rom Klao zone, the BMA will transfer pumps from areas where the situation has improved to reinforce spots still flooded, particularly Rom Klao Housing where water backflow persists, and will strengthen sandbag barriers and add pumps to lower water levels. At the same time, the administration is preparing for possible increased rainfall on October 4–5 by draining water from retention zones and monkey cheeks that can be operated, to create additional capacity for incoming rain.
