Bangkok Floods Flora Villa Area, 2,900 Households Submerged
Bangkok officials are responding to flooding in the Flora Villa neighborhood of Nong Chok, where 2,900 households remain under 50–70 cm of water. They have sped up drainage, prepared relief supplies, and deployed transport for residents while water is expected to recede within a week if no further rain falls.
Bangkok authorities are continuing flood relief efforts in Flora Villa, Suwinthawong, after 2,900 households were flooded on October 10, with water still 50–70 centimeters deep. They have ordered accelerated drainage and prepared 3,000 meal‑and‑water packs for distribution on October 5, 2026. Bangkok Permanent Secretary Thaithewat Khankhao and Nong Chok District Director Akom Sutthibun visited the area, reporting that small vehicles cannot pass due to the standing water. Thaithewat explained that Nong Chok serves as a retention basin for upstream water flowing from Lam Luk Ka District in Pathum Thani through canals 9, 10, 11 and 12 onto Suwinthawong Road, with Lam Patiw Canal as the main drainage channel. Water levels are currently at the banks, slowing outflow, but the city is pumping water from Pravesburirom Canal into the Chao Phraya‑related canals, lowering levels in Pravesburirom and improving discharge from Lam Patiw. If the drainage proceeds as planned, small vehicles should be able to travel again tomorrow and water levels are expected to gradually recede to normal within a week, depending on any additional rainfall. Flora Villa covers about 2,000 rai with 2,900 households and a population of 9,000; while floodwater covers the roads making travel impossible, the houses themselves remain unaffected as they sit above street level. The city has deployed seven six‑wheel trucks to shuttle residents between 08:00 and 18:00, and is handing out the 3,000 food‑and‑water kits at 15:00.
