Bangkok Sports Complex Engulfed as Flooding Submerges Vehicles
Bangkok's Hua Mark Sports Complex is surrounded by floodwaters with vehicles submerged nearly to their roofs as heavy rainfall continues across Thailand through late September.
Hua Mark Sports Center has been surrounded by water on all sides, with the entire perimeter flooded and parked vehicles submerged nearly to their roofs, affecting Thai national athletes. Continuous heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding across Thailand, particularly throughout Bangkok. Former Asian Games gold medal boxer M. Wuttichai Masuk reported conditions at Hua Mark Sports Center, which houses the Thai national sports authority, Rajamangala Stadium, and various sports association offices near Ramkhamhaeng University on Ramkhamhaeng Road. Water has breached every area, with numerous staff and visitor vehicles submerged near Rajamangala Stadium. The velodrome cycling venue has also been inundated over a wide area. Water levels are expected to continue rising as heavy rain persists through September 26 and 27 across all Thai provinces, with additional water from northern sources and Ayutthaya province projected to flow into Bangkok.
