Bangkok Thonburi University Awards 960k Baht to Asian Games Medalists
Bangkok Thonburi University celebrated its athletes' medal haul at the 20th Asian Games by giving them a total of 960,000 baht in incentive payments. Sprinter Phuplip Bunson stood out with two golds and a silver, setting new Asian records in the 100m and 200m. The university’s team also secured gold in badminton, teqball, sepak takraw, and mixed martial arts, along with multiple silvers and bronzes across various events.
Prof. Dr. Bangorn Benjachutikul, rector of Bangkok Thonburi University, congratulated the university’s athletes on their performance at the 20th Asian Games held in Nagoya, Japan, and presented a total incentive payment of 960,000 baht. Police Sergeant Major Phuplip Bunson, who won two gold medals in the men’s 100‑metre and 200‑metre sprints — setting new Asian records of 9.90 seconds and 19.88 seconds respectively — and a silver in the mixed 4×100‑metre relay, received the award on behalf of the team.
Other gold medalists included Police Lieutenant Kulwut Wititsant in men’s singles badminton; Jirat Chanliang in men’s doubles teqball; Atikan Khongkaew in women’s sepak takraw team; Phutawan Sopha in men’s individual sepak takraw (also earning a silver in the men’s team event); and Kanchuta Patthabunson in women’s mixed martial arts under 54 kg.
Silver medals were awarded to Navin Pintasuwan in taekwondo poomsae; Maneewat Buttsuwann in women’s karate over 68 kg; and Phutawan Sopha again for the men’s sepak takraw team. Bronze medals went to Nutchanat Singchalad in women’s jujutsu under 52 kg; and several badminton team members — Phanichpol Teeraratsakul, Ponkpol Teeraratsakul, Thanawad Yimjit, Peerachai Sukphun, Chalermpol Charoenkitchamorn, Dechaphon Puwarawanukorak, and Rutthunanup Uppathong — each receiving a bronze in the men’s team event.
