Chiang Mai University Partners With Montfort College on Education Initiative

Chiang Mai University and Montfort College in Chiang Mai are advancing educational collaboration, linking secondary and tertiary learning under the concept of 'Co-creating Future Learning Pathways'. The initiative aims to develop students' entrepreneurship, innovation, and foreign language skills while creating domestic and international education networks. Learning experiences are tailored to each student's potential, interests, and goals.

An academic cooperation memorandum will be signed between the two institutions by CMU Rector Professor Dr. Phongrak Sribandinmongkol and Montfort Principal Brother Dr. Chamnan Lelorakpol on September 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Phraya Sivisar Lecture Hall, Level 1, CMU administration building.

The collaboration aims to develop a model suited to Montfort College's context while serving as a blueprint for university-school partnerships that can be adapted to other schools' strengths and needs. A key initiative involves developing entrepreneurship and innovation curricula jointly through the 'Montfort Entrepreneurial and Innovation Pathway' for Business Track 3 students, featuring activities such as the MC Dolphin Tank, Hackathons, entrepreneur camps, blended online and practical learning, and portfolio advancement through the BUILDS program to prepare students for university studies.

CMU Lifelong Education will allow students to complete university-level coursework in advance, reducing learning overlap. Credits earned through online study during semester breaks or on-site instruction at the school through the College of Arts, Media and Technology, Faculty of Engineering, and College of International Digital Innovation can be credited toward tertiary degrees according to institutional guidelines and may connect with Thailand's National Credit Bank system.

For international curriculum pathways, admission will be considered through the CMU-IPAS system alongside TCAS, based on standard English test results, CMU's English exam, interviews, and subject-specific exams. Double degree programs are being developed with universities in China, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

The collaboration also includes building education networks with Chinese universities through the CMU Liaison Center in Beijing, supporting summer study trips, AI/IT and innovation learning, language and cultural camps, university and technology company visits, job shadowing, and short-term courses. Montfort College plans to establish the 'MC Chinese International Center' to coordinate and design joint activities. Both institutions will also collaborate on language skill development, testing, and advancement.
