Man Kills Ex-Girlfriend With Meat Cleaver in Kanchanaburi
A 50-year-old woman was killed with a meat cleaver in Kanchanaburi by her ex-boyfriend, who confessed to the crime before fleeing and remains at large near the area.
At 7 a.m. on September 18, 2025, Deputy Superintendent Theerasak Kaewmani of Kanchanaburi City Police received a report of a woman found dead in a rental room in Kanchanaburi municipality. Police coordinated with volunteers, medical personnel from Phahol Pholpayuhosena Hospital, and forensic officers to investigate.
The incident occurred in a two-story townhouse. The victim was found lying on the bed in the second-floor bedroom with fatal stab wounds to her wrists, arms, and neck. A meat cleaver was discovered on the bed nearby, believed to be the murder weapon. The victim was later identified as Chutharatana, 50 years old.
According to a witness named Nan, who lived in the same building, the suspect was a man named Tor, 47, who had previously dated the victim but they had broken up some time ago, though they occasionally visited each other. The night before the killing, Tor arrived at the rental house on a motorcycle and went upstairs to be with Chutharatana. The next morning, Nan witnessed Tor coming downstairs and preparing to leave. Tor told Nan to report him to police, saying he had already killed Chutharatana. Tor then walked into Chuk Kadon fresh market as if nothing had happened. Nan immediately reported the incident to police at a service counter near the market before returning with officers to discover the body.
Kanchanaburi Provincial Police Commander Major General Phasawee Rueangphoo and Deputy Commander Colonel Patchompol Ruchiradamrongchai deployed investigative units to the scene and dispatched officers to search for Tor, who is believed to still be hiding near the area. Initial investigation suggests the motive may involve jealousy or personal conflict, though authorities await Tor's arrest to determine the exact cause.
The victim's parents arrived at the scene to view their daughter's body. Her father stated that his daughter had left home approximately 17-18 years ago and had not been in contact with the family for a long time. He was unaware she was living at this address with a group of friends until neighbors informed him of the incident. The father said he did not know Tor and had no information about what motivated the attack.
