Woman Summoned by Police Over Temple Land Name Change
A 62-year-old woman was summoned for questioning by Khon Kaen police over allegations concerning unauthorized changes to temple land ownership records in her name.
At 10:00 a.m. on September 18, 2025, at Muang Khon Kaen Police Station, Chommani Noi Chanthon, 62, known as 'Ba Da,' reported for questioning following a second police summons regarding allegations related to temple land name changes.
Ba Da arrived with Buakai Pimponsri and Worrdet (Uncle Wanna Thannos), traveling by van with approximately eight supporters before proceeding to a fourth-floor conference room for questioning. Police had prepared a dedicated space and barred journalists from entering during the interrogation.
Worrdet stated his objection to authorities changing the temple land name from Hiang Pimponsri to Wat Pa Adulyaram without proper authorization. He contended that everyone knows the temple was illegally established and that the abbot was inappropriately appointed in 1992, though the temple itself was not founded until 1998—constituting a violation. He further noted that of 21 rai of land designated as temple property, an additional 4 rai were transferred to Khon Kaen Municipality.
