Cyclists From Across Thailand Compete in Final Thailand Open Round
Thailand's top cyclists competed in the final national championship round at Phichit's Saranajit Mongkol Success Cycling Stadium on September 12, with cross-country mountain biking and road cycling events determining national champions.
Deputy Governor Thanit Phumidhaworn of Phichit province welcomed cyclists nationwide to the final Thailand Open competition held September 12 at Saranajit Mongkol Success Cycling Stadium within Bang Si Fai. The station hosted the fourth and final round of the Thailand Open national championship, featuring cross-country mountain biking and road cycling events. The opening ceremony was presided over by Deputy Governor Thanit, with Commander Thitpon Nokruk of the Thai Cycling Association in attendance representing the association's president.
Thanit stated that Phichit residents were delighted the cycling association held the Thailand Open for two consecutive days, bringing renewed energy to the province. He expressed particular pride that His Majesty the King granted the facility the name "Saranajit Mongkol Success Cycling Stadium." The province has used this venue for multiple events, including three national cycling championships in 2025, mini and half-marathons, and a walking-running-cycling event scheduled for November 1.
Thanit highlighted Phichit's agricultural character and the province's efforts to attract visitors who spend money and explore local attractions. He noted that Bang Si Fai covers more than 5,000 acres and features the cycling stadium, a 10.28-kilometer circuit, BMX track, motocross stadium, pump track, crocodile farm with over 100 animals, sunset viewing zones, the Sirikit and Srinakharinwirot royal gardens, lotus pond, and bird-watching tower.
Cyclist Surasanya Wongphan of the Fisherman Friend team representing Dusit Wat Don Noi School, Samut Songkhram, said she had competed in three prior rounds and won all three, aiming for the national championship. She views participation in Thailand Open as a stepping stone to joining the national team and ultimately competing in the Youth Olympics. She credited older athletes who competed internationally as inspirations.
Final results for the cross-country mountain bike competition (43-kilometer distance) included: Women's Open category winner Ms. Petchlada Mankhong of Fisherman Friend team, Royal Thai Air Force Wing 46, Phitsanulok, with a time of 1:35:55, clinching the national title with 92 points and the royal trophy. Men's Open winner was Mr. Nairongdet Sangchaya of Amino VITAL-Summit Nich team with a time of 1:07:33.
