Democrat Party Holds Grand Alumni Reunion for 80th Anniversary

The event will also collect donations for flood relief and record messages for the party’s future.
The Democrat Party announced a grand alumni reunion titled 'Once Upon a Time at Bai Fa' to be held on October 8 at the Athenee Hotel Bangkok, celebrating the party’s 80th anniversary. Deputy Leader Sathit Wongnongtoey explained that the gathering aims to bring together former MPs regardless of their current party affiliation or retirement status, with party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva personally calling about 400 former legislators to invite them. Confirmed attendees include former MPs Athit Uaiyarat, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, Uthai Pimphaichon, Supatra Masdit, Suthep Thaugsuban, Chalermchai Sri‑on, and others, while former minister Chalerm Yubamrung and Trirong Suwanakhee hope to attend despite health issues. The event will set aside current political differences, feature warm reminiscences, include a talk‑show with political commentators, and collect donations for flood relief through the M.R.W. Seni Pramoj Foundation. Participants will also be invited to record messages for the party’s future, to be opened at its 100th anniversary.
