Buddha Statue Consecrated to Boost Udon Thani Horticulture Expo
Senior Buddhist monks presided over an eye‑opening ceremony for Buddha statues at the World Horticulture Expo site in Udon Thani, with government officials overseeing the rites. The event aimed to bless the expo grounds and link Buddhist heritage with the natural landscape ahead of the exhibition’s opening. Officials said the preparations will enhance visitors’ experience by offering learning, relaxation, and spiritual tranquility.
His Holiness Somdet Mahathirajarn presided over the monastic side of the ceremony to enshrine and perform the eye‑opening ritual for the ‘Phra Si Ariyamettrai Phutthaphattabormsuk’ Buddha image, with Luang Pho Siila Sirichanto participating in the rite and offering prayers. Luang Pho Siila also conducted an eye‑opening ceremony for a Buddha statue in the Buddhist History Garden to bless the site of the World Horticulture Expo in Udon Thani ahead of welcoming visitors.
The expo grounds held the enshrining and eye‑opening rites at two important locations, chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Wacharaphol Khaokham, with Permanent Secretary Ropphat Channrasriwong as host and chief organizer, to confer auspiciousness on the area while linking Buddhist values with the beauty of flora and landscape.
Ropphat invited Somdet Mahathirajarn, abbot of Wat Pho, and Luang Pho Siila to play leading roles, stressing their importance in coordinating the event with dignity. The goal is to give the horticulture site value in nature, education, and as a spiritual refuge for people from around the world.
The Buddha images placed in the commemorative hall and the Buddhist History Garden unite Buddhist art with religious teachings amid verdant surroundings, offering visitors a peaceful atmosphere to learn about the relationship between nature and Buddhist history.
Kampol Tansajja, president of Nongnooch World Pattaya, directed the landscaping of the Udon Thani horticulture project, ensuring that the zones with the Buddha statues and the garden blend smoothly with the event atmosphere.
This ceremony represents another significant step in preparing the Udon Thani World Horticulture Expo to welcome guests, combining natural beauty with cultural and faith‑based worth so that visits become opportunities for learning, relaxation, and inner peace.
