Deputy PM Deflects Questions on Thammanat's PM-Engraved Watch
Deputy PM Somkid dismissed reports of coalition talks with the Kla Tham Party as rumor, deflecting questions about the party leader's PM-engraved watch as normal Thai political maneuvering.
Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak gave an interview on 23 September 2025 at Government House regarding reports that the Bhumjaithai Party is preparing to bring the Kla Tham Party into government, describing the claims as merely rumour with no actual discussions underway. He said journalists have brought him information but he cannot verify whether the reports represent genuine political coordination or speculation.
When asked about Kla Tham Party leader Thammanat Prompow posting a photo on Facebook showing him wearing a watch engraved with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's name, Somkid said such moves are normal in Thai politics, where elected politicians regularly rotate in and out of governing coalitions. He stressed that such shifts are routine and require no special interpretation, as the government focuses on strengthening stability and implementing policies for the nation's benefit.
When pressed on what message the watch symbolized, Somkid said the question should be directed at Thammanat himself. On cabinet reshuffling plans, Somkid said he had no information and suggested journalists ask the Prime Minister.
