Body Found in Mun River With Weighted Fertilizer Sack

On the evening of September 22, Lieutenant Prasert Aiyuwong, an investigator with Ubon Ratchathani City Police, received a report of a body floating in the Mun River near Ban Na Kham village in Kudlad subdistrict, Ubon Ratchathani, approximately 1.5 kilometers from Si Prom Beach. He rushed to the scene with a forensic doctor from Sapphasit Hospital, crime scene officials from Ubon Ratchathani province, and rescue workers from Chitam Island rescue unit.

At the location, police found an unidentified male aged approximately 40–45 years lying face-down against the riverbank, wearing a short-sleeved blue shirt and brown shorts pulled down to his knees, with green underwear. A local fisherman who discovered the body said he found the corpse floating past and used nylon rope tied to a fertilizer sack the man was carrying to pull it in and secure it to a branch on the riverbank to prevent it from drifting away.

Initial examination showed the body was decomposed, suggesting death occurred at least three days earlier. No prominent wounds or obvious signs of trauma were found. No identification documents were present. Inside the right trouser pocket, authorities found two twenty-baht banknotes totaling 40 baht. Near the body was a white fertilizer sack containing three stones weighing approximately 1–2 kilograms in total. Officials collected these as evidence and sent the body for detailed examination at the hospital's forensic department.

Investigators and forensic experts have not yet concluded whether this is a concealed murder or suicide, as the body's advanced decomposition and the light weight of the three stones in the sack appear insufficient for effective drowning concealment.
