Body of Unknown Man Found in Field Irrigation Ditch
An unidentified man aged 50-60 was found dead in an irrigation ditch in Ayutthaya Province, with a knife and bloodstains discovered nearby; authorities are conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death.
A bloated male corpse has been discovered in an irrigation ditch running through a rice field in Nong Nam Som Subdistrict, Uthai District, Ayutthaya Province. The body, believed to have been deceased for two to three days, was identified as a man aged 50 to 60 with a tattoo on his left arm, wearing only black short-sleeved sweatpants. A mobile phone was found in his right trouser pocket. At the scene, investigators recovered a knife, a beer can, and what appeared to be bloodstains on the dirt road above the ditch. A path of flattened grass led from the roadside down to the water.
Initial external examination found no obvious signs of trauma or assault. However, the advanced state of decomposition prevented immediate determination of cause of death. Police are sending the body to the Forensic Institute in Pathum Thani Province for detailed autopsy. All evidence from the scene will undergo scientific analysis. Investigators are checking whether construction worker camps operate in the area and reviewing any missing person reports.
The body was first spotted by a 57-year-old local farmer who tends the rice field regularly. He had noticed what he initially thought was discarded clothing floating in the water for two to three days before realizing it was a human body that had begun to bloat. Police are working to identify the deceased and determine whether he was a local resident or from elsewhere, with plans to contact next of kin and proceed with standard legal procedures.
