On September 22 at the 29th floor of Bank of America Tower in New York, Prime Minister Anuthert Chaiyaveerakul and Minister of Interior held discussions with senior executives from Bank of America, Microsoft, and PIMCO. The American investors and institutions responded positively to becoming long-term partners in Thailand, with a focus on future technologies and sustainability.
Government Spokesman Ekapath Phaichid revealed that the Prime Minister emphasized the government's approach to creating an investment-friendly environment and welcomed the exchange of views with executives from these leading American financial institutions. Global financial institutions play an important role in connecting Thailand with international investors and capital sources, and in reflecting business perspectives beneficial to Thailand's investment environment.
Bank of America's President of International Business praised Thai government policies that align with future global development directions, including promotion of AI, digital technology, and transition to clean energy. He will visit Thailand to attend the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings scheduled in the country next month.
The government spokesman said discussions with Microsoft executives covered cooperation in digital, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, personnel skills development, and cybersecurity to support Thailand's goal of becoming a regional digital and AI economic hub. The Prime Minister thanked Microsoft for supporting Thailand's membership process with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which will raise standards, regulations, productivity, and competitiveness to help Thai businesses integrate into global supply chains and compete in the digital economy effectively.
Discussions with PIMCO executives focused on global economic and financial conditions, capital movement trends, and key factors that global institutional investors use in making investment decisions. The Prime Minister noted that insights from global investors would benefit Thailand in monitoring international economic and financial market directions, as well as developing investment policies and environments that can compete and meet investors' long-term needs.
Spokesman Ekapath stated: "The Prime Minister's discussions with these three leading American financial institutions signal Thailand's readiness to welcome capital and cooperation from international investors, creating opportunities for quality capital to support economic growth, infrastructure development, and promising industries. Thailand is not seeking only capital inflows, but partners to build the economy of the future together."
