Thai PM Promotes Investment Potential at UN Assembly
PM Anusit attended the UN General Assembly opening in New York to pitch Thailand's investment opportunities to major financial institutions and tech companies, capitalizing on recent credit rating upgrades and growing investor confidence.
Prime Minister Anusit Chanyaveerakul began his first day at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the morning of September 22, 2025, New York time, by attending the opening of the general debate at UN headquarters. Government spokesman Ekapop Pierapiset announced that the Prime Minister would also meet with major financial institutions, investment funds, and technology companies to present Thailand's strengths and investment opportunities to international investors and leading corporations.
The general debate is an important forum where world leaders and country representatives exchange perspectives on global situations and international challenges. During the day, the Prime Minister will meet with Rebecca Grynspan, a candidate for UN Secretary-General from Costa Rica, to discuss international issues and multilateral cooperation. In the afternoon, he will hold discussions with financial institutions and funds organized by Bank of America, meet executives from the Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), and engage with Microsoft representatives at the Bank of America Tower, presenting Thailand's potential and strengths to investors. In the evening, the Prime Minister will attend a reception and dinner hosted by the US President at the Lotte New York Palace.
This is the Prime Minister's first attendance at the UN General Assembly. The government spokesman stated that despite global volatility, many countries remain confident in investing in Thailand. Concurrently, the Prime Minister has directed parallel roadshow activities with the private sector, the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO), and the Stock Exchange of Thailand in Tokyo, New York, and London to build investor confidence in Thailand's economic growth potential and attract capital investment, particularly to the Thai stock market, which has shown strong growth this year partly due to government policies promoting new industries such as digital and artificial intelligence. Recently, all three major credit rating agencies upgraded Thailand's outlook to stable, marking a golden year for the Thai capital market that is expected to drive real-sector investment, production activities, and employment growth.
