The Meteorological Department has identified 41 provinces facing heavy to very heavy rainfall affecting 80 percent of affected areas, with variable winds and dangerous conditions for Bangkok and its surrounding areas. The 24-hour forecast from September 23 predicts heavy to very heavy rain in the eastern region, lower northeastern, lower central, Bangkok and metropolitan areas, and parts of the south.
Residents are warned to be cautious of heavy rainfall and accumulated precipitation, which may cause flash floods, river overflow, and landslides—particularly in foothill and low-lying areas near waterways. Travel through chronically flooded routes should be avoided, especially low-lying zones where sudden flooding is possible.
A strong low-pressure system is moving from lower Vietnam toward Cambodia along a monsoon trough affecting the central and eastern regions. This combines with moderate southwest monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea, the south, and the Gulf of Thailand, while high pressure and cool air masses over the upper north and upper northeastern regions are weakening.
Waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand are moderate at approximately 2 meters high, rising above 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Fishermen in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are advised to avoid fishing in thunderstorm areas.
