Thai Table Tennis Team Falls to China in Asian Games Quarterfinals
Thailand's men's table tennis team lost 1–3 to top-seeded China in the Asian Games quarterfinals, with 16-year-old Norton Thitiphath Preechanon scoring the sole victory against world No. 8 Lin Shuting.
Thailand's men's team fought hard before losing 1–3 to top-seeded China in the team table tennis event at the 20th Asian Games "Aichi–Nagoya 2026" at Sky Hall Toyota in Nagoya. Thailand's only point came from 16-year-old rising star Norton Thitiphath Preechanon, who defeated world No. 8 Lin Shuting 3–2 in games (4–11, 11–8, 6–11, 11–7, 11–7), a member of the 2026 world championship team. The other three players lost: Pakaphumi Songwansin fell to world No. 1 Wang Chuqin 0–3 (6–11, 8–11, 5–11); Sarayut Tancharoen lost to Xiang Peng 1–3 (6–11, 11–7, 9–11, 7–11); and Thitiphath Preechanon lost to Wang Chuqin 0–3 (3–11, 3–11, 8–11). Despite the defeat, reaching the quarterfinals met the target set by the Table Tennis Association.
