Police Seize Over 1,200kg of Crystal Meth in Lopburi

Lopburi Provincial Police have seized over 1,200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine following a follow-up operation that recovered an additional 200 kilograms beyond the previous day's 1,000-kilogram haul. The drugs were found hidden in a sealed cargo truck left on a dead-end lane.

At 1 p.m. on September 22, Deputy Governor Prachai Pepatang, Deputy Police Commander Phukaravit Chotiksetthiyar, District Officer Chanya Chudkhong, and officers from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau inspected a white Isuzu pickup truck with Bangkok registration plates after receiving reports of illicit crystal meth distribution in Lopburi. The previous night, on September 21, officers had already seized 1,000 kilograms in the Tha Hin subdistrict and traced the truck to the trafficking network.

Narcotics agents located the truck parked at a residential property in Bang Khanmak subdistrict. Three days earlier, a man had driven the vehicle in and locked the passenger cabin before an unknown vehicle arrived to collect something. Officers opened the rear cargo box and found eight large cardboard boxes containing crystal methamphetamine in green plastic bags stamped "1616 Tieguanyin," each with a QR code. The bags weighed 1 kilogram each, totaling 200 bags valued at 20 million baht. The drugs were seized as evidence and handed to police for further investigation.

Inspection of the truck revealed the registration plates did not match the vehicle, and no ownership documents were found. Police are continuing to identify all members of the trafficking operation involved in this shipment.
