Thailand Volleyball Wins Bronze at Asian Games 2026
Thailand's women's volleyball team won bronze at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, defeating South Korea 3-0 behind middle blocker Omsorn Sasipapha's 9-point performance on September 22.
Omsorn Sasipapha, Thailand's standout middle blocker, opened up after scoring 9 points in a dominant performance to secure bronze for the Thai women's volleyball team at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan on September 22, 2026. The world No. 13 Thai squad swept South Korea, ranked 28th globally, 3-0 in sets with scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23 in the bronze medal match at Park Arena Komaki.
Omsorn, who single-handedly contributed 9 points to the victory, expressed pride in her teammates' effort and dedication in the final match for the national team this year. "Throughout the year in the national team camp, we worked very hard. This is the result of our effort and determination. Competing in the Olympics is something we have always wanted, and we managed to achieve it," she said.
She thanked the coaching staff and teammates for their support, noting that she was not initially selected for the first national camp but was believed in and pushed to keep fighting. "If it weren't for everyone, I wouldn't have improved this much. From now on, everyone will go their separate ways to play professionally in their own clubs to gain experience and come back stronger for the national team," Omsorn added.
When asked to rate her own performance this year, Omsorn gave herself a full 100 marks. "Throughout the year I tried very hard. I wanted to improve the team and improve myself. I wanted to show people that what was once negative about us can now be done. I want everyone to remember that we achieved this with our own effort," she explained.
She also addressed criticism, saying: "In life, no one escapes criticism. We already know who we play for and why. We don't do it for people who criticize us. I want those being criticized not to take it to heart and just move past it."
