National Science Museum Concludes 25th Water Bottle Rocket Competition

On September 18, Suwrong Wongsiri, acting director of the National Science Museum (NSM), along with deputy director Sirinart Sermsawadee and Suwit Paonariang, director of the NSM Business Development and Network Office, presided over the awards ceremony for the 25th National Water Bottle Rocket Competition finals. The competition challenged students to design and build water bottle rockets while integrating science skills, with the goal of inspiring young people to see science as engaging, practical, and conducive to innovation.
At the elementary level, the championship team was Chamkhian A from Ban Chamkhian School in Sisaket Province, with members Putthipath Thotratn, Chirayut Simwong, Wisarut Khuenjana, and coach Wongphan Wiengnon. The secondary level champions were Jop Maying team from Na Kae Samakkee Wittaya School in Nakhon Phanom Province, with members Thanapong Ritthadaa, Woryos Kwanchuean, Sinducha Pholok, and Sirichati Wongnaiyokot as coach. Each winning team received 10,000 baht in educational funding.
Suwrong Wongsiri noted that this 25th competition was conducted through collaboration between NSM and eight higher education institutions nationwide: Mae Jo University, Naresuan University, Khon Kaen University, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, Burapha University Chanthaburi Campus, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Prince of Songkla University Surat Thani Campus, and Hat Yai Campus. A total of 996 teams entered the competition this year, with 48 advancing to the national finals. Through the competition, youth developed skills in scientific methodology, problem-solving, systematic thinking, and rocket design and construction, demonstrating that science is enjoyable, tangible, and applicable to real innovation.
Runner-up awards at the elementary level went to Nong Waeng Sang Lui 2 team from Nong Waeng Wittayanukhul School in Kalasin Province (8,000 baht) and Nong Waeng Sang Lui team, also from the same school (5,000 baht). At the secondary level, runner-up honors went to B-Pit-Power-Rocket from Bueng Trai Witthayakhom School in Khon Kaen (8,000 baht) and NPR.1 from Ban Na Kaew Pracharaj School in Lampang (5,000 baht).
