Deputy Director Nattawut Dandi stressed that while accumulated rainfall could trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas, the situation does not warrant the 'major flood' designation circulating online. The department urged the public to rely on official forecasts and not be alarmed by unverified social media posts.

On September 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., Nattawut Dandi, Deputy Director of the Thai Meteorological Department's Academic Affairs Division, held a media interview at the Weather Forecast Operations Center to address widespread online posts about a 'major flood in the next 120 hours,' which have sparked public concern.
Regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall expected from September 23-27, 2025, according to meteorological data, Nattawut stated that during this period Thailand is likely to experience heavy rainfall in many areas and very heavy rain in some locations due to a strong low-pressure system, a monsoon trough, and an intensifying southwest monsoon.
However, claims of a 'major flood' or continuous heavy rain throughout day and night do not align with the Thai Meteorological Department's forecasts. The key concern is heavy and accumulated rainfall, which may cause sudden flash floods, mountain flash floods, and water accumulation in vulnerable areas.
From September 23-27, the northern region, lower northeastern region, eastern region, central region, Bangkok and its surrounding areas, and other zones along the monsoon trough must remain alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will intensify. The public is urged to follow updates from the Thai Meteorological Department closely and not panic over unverified social media claims.
