Deputy PM to Scout Bang Phli Campus for Udon Thani Tech University Relocation
A disputed Udon Thani tech campus will relocate to Bang Phli in Samut Prakan, with Deputy PM Yuthasak visiting potential sites on September 24 to minimize educational disruption and costs for students.
Deputy Prime Minister Yuthasak Sasangasathien and Higher Education Minister announced plans on September 22 to coordinate with the rector of Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Udon Thani Campus, to relocate from the disputed area. After the minister's directive to suspend classes in the disputed zone for at least three months, students are currently attending online classes at facilities arranged by the ministry. A joint meeting with the rector is scheduled for September 23 to determine relocation procedures with minimal impact on education. On September 24, the deputy PM will visit the Department of Skill Development in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, to inspect possible rental spaces for the campus. Officials stated the goal is to reduce conflict while maintaining or improving educational quality and standards. When asked about alternative locations beyond Bang Phli, the spokesman confirmed there are three to four options under consideration, including the Chakkrapongphuvanart Campus, noting the relocation should have minimal disruption. Officials emphasized the importance of consulting stakeholders and will discuss additional measures on September 23 to reduce increased costs for students from the relocation.
