Rayong Weather Bureau Debunks Massive Flood Rumor
Rayong weather officials debunked viral claims of an imminent major flood, though residents in low-lying areas should prepare for water accumulation from ongoing rainfall.
Following widespread social media reports claiming that Rayong province was bracing for a major flood disaster, Niruddee Vongkamchaidet, director of the Rayong Meteorological Station, has stated that such claims are entirely false and urged residents not to believe or panic over the misinformation. However, due to continuous rainfall, low-lying areas and locations prone to regular flooding may experience water accumulation requiring drainage. Districts requiring special vigilance include Muang (Thab Ma sub-district), Pluak Daeng (Mab Yang Phon sub-district), Ban Chai (Nong Lalok sub-district), and Ban Chai in Khao Chachao, where heavy rain poses landslide risks. Sea conditions show wind speeds of 15–35 kilometers per hour with mid-sea waves 1–2 meters high.
