Heavy rain continues to hammer Pattaya City in Chachoengsao province, causing rapid flooding across multiple low-lying and chronically flood-prone areas. Water levels in some locations have reached about 1 metre, prompting authorities to urgently pump water out and close roads—particularly in high-water zones—for public safety.
Affected areas include Pattaya Road 3 near Mueang, Sukhumvit Road around the Pattaya Highway section, and the railway embankment near Tham Sammakki Temple. In the worst-hit areas, small vehicles cannot pass through. Officials have deployed traffic control and accelerated drainage efforts. The situation aligns with a warning from the Meteorological Department (Forecast No. 4) that the Eastern Region will experience heavy rain in multiple areas—some very heavy—from 23–27 September due to a powerful low-pressure system moving along the monsoon trough, combined with an intensifying southwest monsoon. Flash flooding and water pooling in low areas are a serious concern.
Today's forecast for the Eastern Region calls for thunderstorms across 80 per cent of the area with heavy rain in places. Chachoengsao is among the hard-hit provinces. From 23–27 September, the region faces a 70–80 per cent chance of thunderstorms with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. Pattaya City officials continue to monitor conditions and accelerate drainage at vulnerable points. The public is advised to avoid flooded routes and monitor weather updates closely.
