Doctor Announces Breast Cancer Diagnosis at 32
Dr. Lily Varanya, a 32-year-old physician, announced her breast cancer diagnosis discovered incidentally without symptoms, saying she will share her treatment journey once her care plan is finalized at Chulalongkorn Hospital.
On September 22, Dr. Lily Varanya, a physician known by her full name Dr. Varanya Ngan Thawei, posted on her Facebook page "Lily's Happiness" to announce that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer at age 32. In her post, she reflected on her life accomplishments, noting that she completed her medical degree at 24, married at 30, and had a daughter at 31, who recently turned one year old. She emphasized that her cancer was discovered incidentally with no lumps or known risk factors.
Following the post, many people commented with words of encouragement. Dr. Lily later provided an update, expressing gratitude for the support and confirming that she is receiving care at Chulalongkorn Hospital with a treatment plan in place. She requested privacy during this period of additional diagnostic testing to establish a definitive treatment course, and promised to share her experience once she has a concrete plan.
"Once we have a definitive treatment plan, I will share the experience of detection and treatment with everyone," she wrote. "For now, please give us some time as we continue with additional tests to reach a final conclusion on treatment. Thank you to everyone who has been concerned."
