House Speaker Sopon Saramun criticized the term 'playing politics' and urged the use of 'doing politics' instead during an interview at Parliament on September 23, 2026, regarding the Blue Glasses activity, a program that promotes citizens to create written works supporting democracy. He stated he has not yet seen the grand prize but emphasized that whatever is done must be done genuinely, just as the Parliament is changing its image by first strengthening its physical form and work spirit. "I don't much like the phrase 'playing politics.' It should be 'doing politics.' We are here to do politics, not play," Saramun said. He explained that to make the Blue Glasses activity meaningful, the Parliament is promoting reading through its ongoing Suchibulee project, noting that people today dislike reading. "When people love reading, it will make the Blue Glasses project truly beneficial. I personally love reading, especially deep reading—sometimes I read until midnight," he added. Saramun also announced good news: the medical office of the Parliamentary Secretariat has developed the Fit Together weight-loss program. In the New Year, parliamentary staff will compete for prizes based on BMI reduction, with special surprise awards for the top performer.
