The Central Administrative Court rejected the request for a new trial from former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her husband Anusorn Amornchat on September 23, 2024. The court found that the evidence they presented did not constitute new facts that would materially change the Supreme Administrative Court's original verdict. Yingluck and her husband had sued the Prime Minister and nine other officials, seeking to reverse an order requiring Yingluck to compensate the government 10,028,861,880.83 baht for losses in the rice mortgage program. The court determined that as Prime Minister and chair of the National Rice Policy Committee, she had failed to prevent corruption and failed to stop the resulting damages. The court initially rejected the new trial petition on January 13, 2025, citing the evidence as merely correspondence between Yingluck and the Commerce Ministry that occurred after the original judgment and did not qualify as new evidence. Yingluck's legal team has announced they will consult on next steps to continue fighting the case.
