Thailand's women's volleyball team made a strong start at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan by defeating Mongolia with an impressive 3-0 victory in their opening Group C match on September 16. The two nations had previously met three times, with Thailand winning all three encounters. Coach Kittipong Ratchatriang fielded his starting lineup led by players including Kanyarat Khunmuang, Satsipap Chantavisut, Nattanichcha Jaisamn, Acharaporn Kongkop, Chatchuon Moksoree, and Kaewkanya Kamulthala, with Piyanus Paennoi as the libero. Mongolia was led by captain Pursvuuren Enkhuslen.
