BYD Thailand, in partnership with Revel, celebrates strong and sustainable growth alongside Thailand, marking the production of 100,000 new energy vehicles. General Manager Benson Ke of BYD Auto Thailand revealed that the factory has reached the 100,000-vehicle production milestone, a significant achievement in advancing Thailand's clean automotive industry while protecting the environment.
This milestone follows the official delivery of the BYD Dolphin as the factory's first vehicle and the world's 8 millionth new energy vehicle delivered by BYD on July 4, 2024. The facility is BYD's first factory outside China with a maximum production capacity of 150,000 vehicles annually and an investment of over 30 billion baht, located in the WHA Industrial Estate in Rayong Province. It manufactures five new energy vehicle models: BYD Dolphin, BYD Atto 3, BYD Seal 5 DM-i, BYD Sealion 5 DM-i, and BYD Sealion 6 DM-i.
The company has developed partnerships with over 266 Thai parts manufacturers and suppliers, including 125 domestic material and component producers, with approximately 1,090 components certified to Thai standards. This reflects commitment to promoting domestic parts usage, supporting Thai entrepreneur development, and strengthening Thailand's automotive supply chain.
All five vehicle models produced by BYD Thailand's Rayong facility have received official Made in Thailand certification from the Federation of Thai Industries. The factory employs over 6,000 workers, approximately 95 percent Thai nationals, with approximately 50 percent local content. The facility serves both domestic and export markets, with exports accounting for 40 percent of first-half production this year. Cumulative exports have surpassed 24,000 units, covering markets across ASEAN, South Asia, Australia, and Europe.
BYD Thailand is committed to building an intelligent factory with quality, standards, and efficiency, achieving sustainable business objectives through strict management systems covering quality, production, and safety. The stamping facility handles mass production with 6,000 chassis sets delivered monthly, equipped with modern equipment including 7,900-ton automatic stamping presses and 2,500-ton tryout presses. The paint shop features advanced 3C2B water-based spray technology, new dry spray booths, and high-temperature RTO technology to treat and reduce VOC emissions during the curing process, making it environmentally friendly.
