Snooker Player Beats Man With Cue Over Unfinished Game
A Rayong snooker hall erupted in violence when a man struck another player on the head with a cue stick over a disputed game on September 22, with security footage capturing the unprovoked attack.
Security footage captured the moment a local snooker enthusiast struck a man's head with a cue stick, sending him to the floor. The incident occurred at a snooker hall in Chiang Noen subdistrict, Muang district, Rayong province on September 22.
According to reports, 32-year-old Chaiyong was playing snooker with relatives when 38-year-old Aphichat, known as "Tom Sorng Phi Noi," asked to join. After just one game, Chaiyong and his relatives decided to quit and leave, which angered Tom. While Chaiyong was distracted, Tom struck him hard on the head with a cue stick, breaking the shaft and leaving Chaiyong sprawled on the floor injured. Other patrons watched in shock as Tom then left the hall, shouting a challenge: "I'll be back. Whoever has a problem, come find me, I'm Tom Sorng Phi Noi."
Chaiyong later filed a complaint with Muang Rayong police, providing security camera footage. He explained that Tom appeared intoxicated when he asked to join their game and that he had been willing to let him play. However, after just one game, Tom struck him without warning. Chaiyong's 19-year-old nephew, Jatupol, confirmed that Tom seemed drunk when he arrived, and they had no objection since they were about to leave anyway.
Tom's account differed. He claimed he had placed a 20-baht bet to join the game, but when Chaiyong wanted to restart midway through, he felt cheated since the original terms had been to play through. He said his anger arose from having lost money but seeing Chaiyong refuse to finish as agreed.
