Man Chokes on Meatball, Hospital Staff Saves Him at Restaurant
A man choking on a meatball at a restaurant in Phetchabun province was rescued by a nearby hospital staff member trained in choking relief, who helped him clear his airway so he could finish his meal.
A man eating noodle soup at a restaurant in Nong Phai district, Phetchabun province, began choking on a meatball after just three spoonfuls. Fortunately, a hospital staff member who was dining at the shop at the time assisted him until he was able to swallow safely. After receiving help, the man returned to his table and finished his meal, remarking that he had barely eaten and was still hungry.
A video posted on Facebook documented the incident at a food-to-order restaurant. The man was seen suddenly standing up from his table and walking to the front of the shop in distress, signaling that he was choking. Everyone in the restaurant rushed to help him. A staff member from Nong Phai Hospital who happened to be eating there and had received training in choking relief immediately intervened and successfully helped the man clear his airway.
Ampika Pluea Sri, a senior medical technician and owner of the restaurant located inside Nong Phai Hospital, explained that she runs a food-to-order shop within the hospital premises. Most of her customers are patients visiting the hospital. After the man was successfully assisted, he returned to his table to continue eating his noodle soup. He commented that he had only eaten three spoonfuls before the incident and was still not full.
