Thai PM to Use UN Stage to Boost Thailand's Global Profile
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is using his UN General Assembly visit to position Thailand as a reliable investment destination and regional economic hub, with plans to present the country's OECD membership bid to world leaders.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul gave a media interview at 11:20 a.m. on September 22 (New York local time) after participating in the general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York. During his three-day stay, he will meet with world leaders, private sector representatives, business councils, and investors to strengthen confidence in Thailand. While foreign nations are already familiar with Thailand, the prime minister said the visit will emphasize Thailand as a reliable partner and a country prepared in all aspects—as a distribution hub and production center ready to receive investment.
On September 24, the prime minister will present Thailand's future vision to the assembly, highlighting Thailand's role as a trade and economic center in Southeast Asia, its readiness to adapt to new global rules including energy transition, and its preparation to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). He said OECD membership will help Thailand gain international recognition and strengthen its partnerships with other nations on equal terms.
