Dog Attacks 4-Year-Old, Requires 30 Stitches

A four-year-old kindergarten student was savagely attacked by a dog on the head and left forehead, suffering severe bleeding that required immediate hospitalization. Doctors stitched the wound with over 30 stitches. The dog's owner brought 500 baht and snacks to the family as consolation, claiming to have no other means to help. The family remains concerned about another attack, as the dog still roams the neighborhood.

The incident occurred at 5:50 p.m. on August 9 in Rom Yen Village, Moo 4, Soi 2, Hua Thale Subdistrict, Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, while the boy was playing with three siblings. A dog suddenly entered the play area and viciously attacked the child's head and left forehead. The boy ran to his grandmother and grandfather for help before being rushed to the hospital.

Surachai, 51, the boy's grandfather, showed reporters the wound on his grandson's head, which still bore clear stitching marks. Since the attack, the child has become frightened whenever he sees a dog and no longer approaches them as before.

Surachai explained that after the incident, the family tracked down the dog, discovering it belonged to a neighbor. The owner initially denied responsibility but later admitted it was his dog and offered 500 baht and snacks as compensation, claiming financial difficulties.

Reporters conducted a ground investigation attempting to locate the dog, which is believed to live in the forest near the community, but the animal could not be found. Residents expressed concern that the dog may return to the community and harm others, especially children. The family is urging relevant authorities to investigate and control the dog to prevent future incidents, particularly given that the four-year-old child required over 30 stitches from this attack.
