Police Seize 4 Million Methamphetamine Pills in Sisaket Bust
Police arrested a suspect and seized 4 million methamphetamine pills during a pre-dawn operation in Sisaket Province as part of a nationwide drug elimination campaign.
On August 17, 2569, at Khantharawichai Police Station in Sisaket Province, provincial governor Anurat Thammaprajumjit and Supachai Sakrinpanichkul, commander of Sisaket Provincial Police, announced the arrest of a suspect named Aswin and the seizure of a major methamphetamine shipment as part of the 90-day drug elimination operation. Officers arrested Aswin and recovered 4 million methamphetamine pills in 20 sacks, two pickup trucks, and three mobile phones.
The arrest followed an operation that began at 1:00 AM the same day, when officers from Sisaket Provincial Police, the 22nd Provincial Drug Suppression Unit in Ubon Ratchathani, and Khantharawichai Station tracked a drug trafficking group operating in Sisaket. They identified two pickup trucks—one serving as a scout vehicle and the other transporting drugs—and set up a surveillance and interception operation. Officers spotted a white Nissan pickup truck with Yasothon registration plates and signaled the driver, Aswin, to stop. Aswin abandoned the vehicle and fled but was apprehended near Suan Pa village in Ban Dung subdistrict, Khun Han district. Police then seized a bronze-grey Isuzu pickup truck with Sisaket plates that was operating as the scout vehicle.
A search of the Nissan pickup revealed 4 million methamphetamine pills distributed across 20 sacks—10 inside the cab and 10 in the truck bed—along with three mobile phones. The suspect and all evidence have been forwarded for further investigation. Authorities are analyzing the phones and other data to identify and pursue other members of the trafficking network.
