No Candidates Register First Day for Nonthaburi Governor Election
No candidates registered on the first day of filing for Nonthaburi's provincial administrator election scheduled for September 20, though the grandson of the slain previous administrator is expected to register August 18.
The first day of candidate registration for Nonthaburi Provincial Administrator passed with no candidates filing, on August 17. The race is to replace Police Major General Thongchai Yen Prasert, the previous administrator, who was shot dead. The election is scheduled for September 20. Registration runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the provincial administration office in Bang Krasoai, Muang Nonthaburi, through August 21. Support groups gathered outside but were kept away from the registration area. No political faction submitted a candidate on the first day. Vibhavaly Vorawanpricha, former secretary to the previous administrator, revealed that on August 18 at 8:30 a.m., Nuraphand Yen Prasert, 57, known as "Tee" and the grandson of Police Major General Thongchai Yen Prasert, will file as a candidate representing the Royal Bee group. The Democrat Party is fielding Dechart Sukkagennid, party deputy leader and director of the Democrat Party's Forward Policy Center, a former economics lecturer at Kasetsart University, who will register on August 20.
