Domestic Tourism Surges 5% in August, Generating 98 Billion Baht
Thai domestic tourism grew 5.23% in August with 16.33 million trips generating 98 billion baht in revenue, as popular destinations like Bangkok and Kanchanaburi saw increased hotel occupancy rates.
Domestic tourism in Thailand remained strong in August 2025, with the market continuing to expand positively. Thai visitors made 16.33 million trips during the month, a 5.23% increase compared to August 2024. The buoyant travel activity generated total revenue of 98 billion baht and helped distribute income across various regions.
When broken down by destination, the top five most popular locations attracting Thai tourists were Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Kanchanaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and another unnamed destination. Hotel occupancy rates in August 2025 increased 0.23% compared to the same month last year. The provinces with the highest occupancy rates were Yala at 81.44%, Ranong at 80.10%, Buriram at 77.20%, Surat Thani at 76.70%, and Bangkok at 76.38%.
