Driver Forgets Gear, Pickup Crashes Into Gold Shop
A driver in Phitsanulok accidentally left his pickup in gear while eating lunch, causing it to crash into a gold shop on Phra Ong Dam Road with no injuries reported.
On September 13, police received a report that a black Toyota pickup had crashed into the front of Chong Heng Gold Shop on Phra Ong Dam Road in Muang District, Phitsanulok Province. Investigators found the pickup had plowed into the shop, causing substantial damage but fortunately no injuries.
The 30-year-old driver admitted he had parked along the road to eat chicken and rice at a nearby restaurant. After finishing his meal, he opened the truck door, inserted the key, and started the engine without realizing he had left the vehicle in first gear. The truck surged forward and struck the gold shop in front of him. The driver remained at the scene and immediately contacted his insurance company to report the accident.
The gold shop owner, Nitchanan Suwalipattanaphon, said she was eating in the back of the shop when she heard a loud crash and her children screaming. She rushed out to find the truck had hit the counter area where she normally sits and where her children had been moments before they moved to the middle of the shop. The damage to the shop was considerable.
