On November 2, 2026, at around 3:20 p.m., Si Kiew Police Station received reports from parents and villagers about a disturbance at a local school in Si Kiew district, Nakhon Ratchasima. A 54-year-old parent, named Mana-chai (surname withheld), was found on the premises in a drunken and agitated state, brandishing a .38 caliber handgun. He shouted aggressively before firing multiple shots into the air within the school grounds.
Pol. Lt. Col. Thatchaphon Chinwong, Superintendent of Si Kiew Police Station, confirmed the suspect was a parent of a student at the school. He fired two shots inside the school compound; no injuries or property damage occurred. After the shooting, the man fled in a pickup truck into the village. Police tracked him down and detained him along with the firearm used in the incident.
Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect had come to pick up his child, then argued with a teacher, expressing dissatisfaction that the child could not read or do basic addition. He was also heavily intoxicated and exhibited signs of a mental episode, which led him to fire the gun twice before fleeing. He was subsequently handed over to investigators and charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a firearm in a village or public place without reasonable cause, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
On November 3, reporters visited the school, a small facility under the Nakhon Ratchasima Primary Educational Service Area Office 4, with roughly 30 students and 7 teachers. The school had suspended classes for two days. The atmosphere was quiet, as the school is located far from the community, surrounded by forest with little traffic. Most villagers were out working in agriculture from early morning, leaving the area largely deserted.
