Man Shoots Friend Dead in Drinking Row in Nakhon Si Thammarat
A 44-year-old man shot and killed his drinking companion in Nakhon Si Thammarat after an alcohol-fueled argument escalated. The suspect was arrested at the scene with the murder weapon recovered.
On September 10, officers from Thung Song Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat responded to a fatal shooting at a house in Khao Khao Subdistrict. At the scene, they found Nathpong, 36, dead in front of the house with four gunshot wounds: two to the head, one to the left ribs, and one to the thigh. All wounds were from a 9mm firearm.
The suspect was identified as Ekrat, 44, the homeowner. He fled the scene immediately after the shooting but was apprehended by officers who also recovered the murder weapon.
According to the investigation, Ekrat had invited Nathpong, a younger friend living nearby, for a drinking session. Initially the conversation was normal, but after consuming alcohol they began arguing and quarrelling. Ekrat then went inside, retrieved a 9mm pistol, and fired four shots at Nathpong at close range, killing him on the spot. Police determined the motive was intoxication-fueled dispute that escalated out of control.
Ekrat has been charged with premeditated murder and violation of the Firearms Act. He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
