The Ministry of Education has partnered with the House Committee on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to establish a 'Safe School' initiative in Tung Saliam, Sukhothai Region 3, training students in emergency response and using the Traffy EDU app to report incidents across six dimensions of risk.
On September 18, Deputy Education Minister Lindhiporn Weerawatchroj drove forward the policy of Deputy Education Minister and Education Ministry Rights and Safety Committee chair Akrapan Kankittinund. The Education Ministry formally launched the 'Education Rights, Freedom and Safety Center' in collaboration with the Traffy Fondue application.
Deputy Minister Lindhiporn stated that over 700 students participated in the training, which was a collaborative effort between the Education Ministry and the House of Representatives. Prapaporn Thongpaaknam, a Sukhothai MP from the For Thailand Party and member of the House committee on disaster prevention and natural disaster mitigation, recognized the importance of the issue and led the organization of the seminar 'Public Disaster Safety and Incident Reporting Systems in Educational Institutions' at Tung Saliam Chanupatham School in Sukhothai.
The seminar invited multiple expert speakers to educate participants on evacuation and emergency procedures in the event of emergencies or disasters within schools, with live scenario drills to strengthen preparedness for students and staff.
Deputy Minister Lindhiporn stated that the seminar also presented the role of the Education Ministry's Rights, Freedom and Safety Center, while emphasizing the use of the Traffy EDU incident reporting system, which covers six dimensions of risk reporting. These six dimensions reflect the understanding that educational safety in the modern era must be comprehensive, encompassing physical, mental, rights-based, environmental, and digital dimensions.
Today's event underscored the commitment of all sectors to elevate safety standards in educational institutions nationwide, beginning with raising awareness at the grassroots level, alongside strengthening accessible and effective support systems for all schools.
