The State Railway's electrical subsidiary (SRT) is preparing to assume management of the Airport Rail Link following the CP Group's current contract expiration on September 30, 2025. SRT is ready to resume operations immediately from October 1, but requires clear direction from the State Railway on management structure and employment terms.

According to SRT's acting board chairman Kongsak Chanthrasopa, the management transition requires at least one month of preparation, including surveying data, inspecting assets, trains, and systems, as well as staffing arrangements. For seamless handover, the State Railway must finalize SRT's employment agreement by September 1.

If the hiring decision is delayed beyond September 1, SRT will have insufficient preparation time, potentially requiring the State Railway to extend the current private operator's contract for 6 months to a year. SRT estimates that managing and operating the Airport Rail Link will require approximately 300 personnel. The company will handle project management and remit revenues to the State Railway without establishing a subsidiary.

SRT, which previously managed the project, faces no operational concerns but requires time to prepare staff. The fastest approach is transferring Asia Aravan's employees to SRT's payroll to ensure service continuity. The Government Savings Bank is partnering with the Ministry of Education on a major teacher debt-relief measure, reducing interest rates for borrowers in good standing from the civil servant welfare loan scheme to 3.50% annually through December 2025. Monthly payments remain the same, but the interest savings now go toward faster principal reduction. Borrowers with payment problems can restructure their debt to re-enter the rate-cut program.

Bank Director Songpol Cheevapoonyarojanin said the current economic climate is squeezing household finances while household debt remains high, making teacher support a priority. Around 280,000 teacher borrowers from loans issued between 2005 and 2015 still carry outstanding balances. The new rate—down from 4%—is lower than credit union rates. A dramatic incident unfolded on August 20 when a motorcyclist's throttle became stuck, leaving him unable to control the bike and forcing him to leap for his life near Ao Chalongs Bridge at the Ao Chalongs Pier in Chalongs Subdistrict, Muang District, Phuket, at approximately 11:26 a.m. Security footage posted on Facebook by user Apichart Fishing Tour showed the motorcycle plunging into the sea, though the poster expressed puzzlement at how the bike had navigated through the busy five-way junction to reach the bridge. According to the eyewitness who was working nearby, the rider managed to jump clear just before the bike entered the water. The witness immediately assisted the injured rider and handed him over to port authorities, who transferred him to Chalongs Hospital. During the rescue, the rider explained that shortly after refueling, the throttle appeared to jam, causing the engine to race beyond his control. Though he struggled to maintain the bike, he eventually reached the five-way Chalongs junction, where he desperately shouted for help from police and warned bystanders to move out of the way due to the stuck throttle. He continued riding toward Chalongs Bridge, where he jumped from the motorcycle to save himself, but the bike continued forward and plunged into the sea. Port staff have since secured the submerged motorcycle with rope to prevent it from drifting, and they are waiting for the tide to recede before attempting to recover it.
