Temple Abbot Suspends Mail Deliveries Citing Bomb Threats

Phra Kru Adulasarnithes, abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram, announced on August 20 that while he thanks the public and clergy nationwide for sending parcels and donations, the temple must temporarily suspend accepting them due to ongoing land dispute complications and widespread security concerns. Unable to verify who is sending items or what they contain, the abbot fears potential explosive devices and asked the public to refrain from sending parcels until the situation normalizes. "There are many people who intend to harm me, so I don't want to receive parcels right now," he said. "When things return to normal, you can send them then. There's no need to rush. I'm sorry if this seems like rejection, but I don't know who sent what. If people from across the country send things, where would I put them? I can't handle it. Right now I don't need anything—just your moral support is enough."

The abbot also mentioned previous donations of solar panels that proved impractical, as the temple's forest location lacks sufficient sunlight for them to function effectively. Similarly, some donors wished to plant trees, but they cannot thrive without adequate sun exposure.

Regarding recent disturbances, Phra Kru Adulasarnithes said such incidents have occurred for years but he has chosen not to file complaints. Over his 22 years at the temple, he rarely spoke publicly about the problems, though he received harassing phone calls frequently. He expressed gratitude to the monastic community and senior monks for their support. On the five-rai land dispute, he noted the court has already ruled and the matter is settled, so there is no need to wait further. He also refused past requests to lease temple land, explaining that whether offered millions or billions, he has no need for rental income and would not know what to do with it.
